Below is just junk

Wakefield held the Yankees to one run on one hit (Rodriguez's second-inning solo home run) and one walk in the first five innings. With one out in the top of the sixth, Girardi griped at consecutive called strikes of Gardner by home plate umpire Laz Diaz, and Diaz tossed him.

Before Girardi left, though, he came out on the field for several minutes of an animated face-to-face shouting match between him and Diaz. The site claims that Rodriguez popped back onto the police radar screen after he shot McGraw following a dispute over a bottle-throwing incident on Terrace Avenue. According to the site, Rodriguez was on the street drinking with friends and throwing bottles and McGraw told him to stop because Rodriguez was "making the street hot' -- and would attract police attention to the area, which police say is a high-crime location within the county.

The AMW "overview" of Rodriguez says the two men then exchanged words -- and a little more than a half-hour later Rodriguez allegedly walked up to McGraw with a shotgun and, after a struggle, shot him in the chest. The AMW site said Rodriguez has "strong ties to" New York, particularly Brooklyn, and has a previous arrest in Oklahoma. It said he also had ties to Georgia and the Carolinas. On Thursday, Nassau Police could not confirm any information regarding Rodriguez -- including his arrest record.

Barry Bonds before & STREET PRICE $500. SPECS 6-iron: 29 degrees; PW: 45. KEY TECHNOLOGY The 3- and 4-hybrids in this set combine with oversize, hollow-back middle irons and cavity-back short irons. The result is a low, deep CG in all irons. PANELIST COMMENTS "The 3-hybrid is so easy to hit it's like you can just drop the club on the ball and it goes.... The irons have a firm impact with a traditional look." JUDGES' VERDICT Few companies the size of Adams can match its technology. Integrating hybrids into the set is pure genius, albeit not for all players. HOT Cavity-back short irons forgive without looking obnoxious. A thermoplastic-urethane insert in the cavity is designed to promote vibration dampening. PANELIST COMMENTS "Extremely soft feel at impact, even on mis-hits.... The level of forgiveness in a smaller clubhead is fantastic." JUDGES' VERDICT A respite from the boxy look. How good are these sticks? It's the third year in a row they've made the Hot List. Its medium-width sole helps prevent digging. PANELIST COMMENTS "I put a bunch of different swings on this one, and the ball ended up pretty much in the same place every time. You could bring your B-game and still win the nassau with these irons." JUDGES' VERDICT Cobra irons have always offered substance, and now they have style to match. The custom-tuning port helps stabilize the face at impact for better feel. A wide sole moves the CG away from the face to help launch the ball higher. PANELIST COMMENTS "A bit too much offset, even for choppers, but it performs like a champ.... Love the tumbled finish of the classic Ping." When the role of T cells and B cells came to light, interest shifted to the biological workings of the adaptive immune system and how it programs its weaponry. With the recent discovery of the card15 gene mutation, which appears to increase a persons risk of developing Crohns disease, research interest has shifted back to the innate immune system. Researchers hypothesize that its possible that some cells may be deficient in sensing bacteria, which might result in an exaggerated inflammatory response.
This is typical of how things recycle in science, says James, whose current mission as Director of DDN is to oversee research to better understand the perplexing biological mechanisms behind complex diseases of the gastrointestinal system, knowledge that would make new diagnostics and treatments possible.

Despite incremental discoveries, the mechanism behind Crohns disease, an inflammatory disease of the small bowel, remains something of a mystery. Crohns afflicts an estimated 400,000 to 600,000 Americans. We still have a lot to learn, says James. One important recent advance was the discovery that tumor necrosis factor (TNF) is an inflammatory cytokine. This finding led to the development of infliximab, an anti-TNF monoclonal antibody, which has been effective in relieving symptoms in two-thirds of patients. This is an example of the kind of bench to bedside progress we would hope to bring to other digestive diseases, James adds.

IBD comprises two of the complex digestive diseases needing more effective diagnostic tests and interventions. The average person goes many years before being diagnosed, says James. In Crohns and ulcerative colitis, our long-term goal is to figure out whos at risk early enough to modify environmental risk factors and to intervene before complications and morbidity become an issue.

Celiac disease is another chronic inflammatory disease with interesting research potential, James points out. In this case, medical science knows a bit more: the body reacts to environmental triggers — proteins in wheat, rye and barley. We also know theres a genetic link, he adds. The question is: How do the controlling genes interact with the protein triggers to cause disease?

Celiac disease is easily treated by eliminating these foods from the diet, James notes, but it remains widely underdiagnosed because symptoms are difficult to recognize and a biopsy is necessary to confirm diagnosis. Celiac is a good research model, he says, because once we know more about how genes and the environment conspire, we may be able to apply that information to other complex diseases. If we can develop better diagnostic tests, it will be possible to prevent complications and morbidity at low cost.

Digestive diseases such as IBD, esophageal reflux, celiac disease, and chronic liver diseases, such as hepatitis B and C, all cause chronic inflammation and are associated with an increased risk of cancer. Right now, Dr. James says, were collaborating with NCI in studying Barretts Esophagus as a precursor to esophageal cancer. We also are cooperating with the NIAID in hepatitis C studies.

In motility disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), there are great opportunities for advances through neuroscience, James says, particularly in understanding the complex activities that connect the brain to the nerves in the gut. This has become an exciting new area for patient-based research, he says, as new tools such as brain imaging techniques have become available.

lins

judge will hear the matter on June 20.

Lohan's spokeswoman had no comment Tuesday.

The starlet, who grew up in Merrick and Cold Spring Harbor, is no stranger to car accidents. Originality seems to have been sucked out of the majority of the internet. Why? Why has the internet so quickly fallen into certain patterns and simple designs? Here are four possible reasons for you to mull over while you drink your tea.

Simmons, Jannace & Stagg

RSS

It is hard to argue against RSS. RSS is the engine driving the hyper-mashup revolution. Average Joes everywhere are using RSS feeds to aggregate only the content that is relevant to them—and there has been much rejoicing. People are using RSS feeds and feed-readers to help them manage the deluge of content produced each day and only reading that which rises to the top. On its surface, all of this is good for the user, but is it the panacea we all think it is? Of course it isn’t.

The visual design of a site is not simply decoration, it is communication. The imagery, layout, and symbolism framing the content is there in a supportive, enriching role. Designers don’t play with colors simply to make something pretty, they use color, texture, typography, and myriad other techniques to enforce, enhance, and contextualize their content. In an RSS reader, all of this effort is rendered moot.

If a new author assumes the majority of her content is going to be read in a feed-reader or through RSS, then she may not take quite as much time working on a relevant visual design for her content, or may simply choose a ready-made template. This author won’t take into account the richness a compelling visual design would add to the entire experience of her site. Thus, her content will be simply that—content.

Indeed, some designers use visual means for content organization. Dave Shea’s most recent redesign, entitled organizes articles around a primary image and color palette. In this way, articles are associated with each other through visual similarity, much like in a magazine. The functionality of this organizational mechanism is unavailable in RSS and lost on the user who never visits his site.
For the user, the drawbacks are not immediately apparent. When a trained designer puts together a website, each and every decision, from the visual details to the information architecture, is selected for a reason. Shea’s musings on design are much more relevant and authoritative when consumed within the confines of his blog than when abstracted into a hermetic feed-reading environment. His site is a living, breathing example of his philosophies, practices, and techniques—the very thing addressed in his content. Yes, the content must be able to stand on its own, but that doesn’t mean content that stands on its own can’t benefit from rich visuals and intelligent organization. The feed-using subscriber has shorted himself the complete experience by reading abstracted content

no matter

the weather took a turn for the worse and they found themselves in the middle of a tough decision: scrap the trip and endure the embarrassment of having turned back despite their expert status, or press on and brave the elements in hopes that the storm would pass. Since each of them had equal say, and nobody wanted to be seen as trying to trump the others, they all continued the trek. This story did not have a happy ending. Several of them lost their lives, simply because they did not choose a leader to make the tough decisions. It is tragically ironic that even though any one of them could have filled that role, a leadership vacuum existed because of mutual respect.
The lesson to be learned here is that selecting a leader is not necessarily a bad thing. However, typically, it manifests itself in one of two ways. Either the most senior people are the only ones who get to make decisions because of their status and clout, or decisions fall to those with lower positions because the issues at hand are not seen as pertinent and worthwhile. The ideal environment is one where people all have something to bring to the table, but a group consensus is reached on who will take ownership of the team effort before a project even starts. This need not be re-negotiated every time, but the important thing is that people know who has governing authority, and that there are not overlapping agendas in the process. One could think of this in terms of professional sports teams. Michael Jordan might have had a superstar shoe deal, but he respected Phil Jackson as the one who was coaching the game. Contrast this with players such as Latrell Sprewell, who attacked his coach, P.J. Carlesimo.

So What?

What does any of this have to do with web development? Quite a bit, actually. The tale of the village stew reflects how big businesses get so tied up in their own IT bureaucracy that their processes become a hindrance instead of an effective governance model. As the ones building websites, we first need to understand the human factors involved before constructing solutions that might not address our problems. In her book Web ReDesign 2.0: Workflow that Works, Kelly Goto offers this advice:

“Clients usually have clear business objectives, but are notorious for not having clear site objectives. And why expect them to? They are neither designers nor web experts. By asking clients the right questions, you guide them into aligning their business objectives with the constantly changing, evolving, and demanding web.”

The mountain-climber tragedy illustrates how small agencies can be hindered by lack of structure. Somewhere in the middle is a solid team model, in which there is just enough of a framework in place to keep people communicating effectively, but not so much paperwork that it keeps anything from really happening. As a general rule, if your web team produces more Word documents than deliverables, then it may be time to re-strategize. On the flip side, if you are just designing and coding all day, but there is no clearly established scope or budget for a project, then you should define those parameters, pronto.

Here are a few pointers:

Do:

Choose a project leader who has final authority.

Establish scope and budget for the project.

Agree upon a timeline for deliverables.

Set specific, incremental milestones in the process.

Get to know the key stakeholders.

Keep the yes-man under control.

Don’t:

Be afraid to demand that someone take charge.

Give into scope creep unless the client is paying.

Shoot from the hip without any timeframe.

Start a project with no clear goals defined.

Be a loner or isolate yourself.

Let a yes-man run the show.

Summary

No matter the size your team, be it an agile design shop or large IT department, it is important to know when to defer to those who are well-versed in a particular area, and equally as imperative to step up and take the initiative for the betterment of the project as a whole. In either situation, check your own motives to make sure that ego or personal agenda is not clouding your judgment. In the business world, projects are unsuccessful not because a group of professionals working together lack anything by way of skill or intelligence, but, more often than not, they simply fail to work well together. In the future, we can hope for more culinary masterpieces and less village stew.

mayor

What’s Cooking

In an ideal world, people would recognize the need to facilitate the best possible solution for the betterment of everyone involved. The last time I checked, though, such altruistic dreamlands existed only within the manufactured confines of overpriced theme parks.

Imagine, if you will, an experienced chef who is hired by the town council to be the chief expert to revitalize the town’s restaurant industry. His mission will be to pull together the disparate area vendors under one unified, standard process for cooking—one that is both intuitive and leads to delicious dishes, while still being flexible enough to handle multiple cuisines. He offers to cook a meal for the city’s residents to gain their confidence and trust as the new head chef. He decides to prepare his famous soup, one which numerous other townships have already enjoyed immensely. Since the weather is pleasant, he opts to cook outdoors so that everyone can enjoy the aroma.

People soon begin to gather in the town square, but to the chef’s surprise they are carrying with them all manner of foods and ingredients. Confused, the chef tries to reassure the populace that he will cook for them, and that they need not trouble themselves with bringing anything else. He quickly learns that the Mayor is second-guessing the decision to hire a chef, and wants to get additional feedback about how the meal should be cooked. He had issued a decree allowing everyone to bring their favorite food to be added to the cauldron. The carefully blended soup quickly turns into a concoction full of random ingredients: lobster, ice cream, macaroni, peanut butter, and pizza, to name a few. The Mayor stands behind his podium nearby, aloof and pleased that the democratic process was going so well. Surely this would be the best meal ever, with so many people’s favorite ingredients taken into consideration.

Despite the chef’s initial protests, the cooking continues. Not wanting to defy the will of the masses during his first major undertaking, he does as the Mayor and the city council have instructed. Before long, it is time to dole out the servings of soup, and everyone eagerly awaits their turn. Spoons ready, they all dig in simultaneously as the mayor proudly gives the order to begin eating. The looks of delight on the faces of the happy citizens quickly turn to disgust, and then to anger. They scowl at one another across the many dinner tables. Townsmen who hate the taste of peanut butter glare at those who supplied it, while those not fond of shellfish make comments about those who brought lobster.

The Mayor himself does not particularly enjoy the meal either, but realizing that he is responsible for allowing everyone an equal say in the process, he is quick to shift blame to the chef for not mixing the ingredients properly. Everyone agrees, and soon the chef is made a scapegoat for not filtering through all of their input and still producing an excellent meal. What kind of chef is he, anyway? Certainly not the type that could revitalize their restaurant industry. And so, after running him out of town, they continue on as they always did—without cooperation or any semblance of taste.

fishing

Simmons, Jannace & Stagg Goaltender Wade Dubielewicz has carried the Islanders in place of injured Rick DiPietro, who is set to return to practice today. But occasionally, one of the mass-circulation magazines offers what's called in the business a "package" or "takeout" on art. The December 2006 Vanity Fair, for instance, devoted almost 80 pages in what its cover designated "The Art Issue" to the contemporary art "universe." To be fair, the VF treatment did offer a platter of red meat--a symposium on the state of the art world with a prominent dealer, collector, editor, artist, auctioneer and curator, profiles of established and emerging artists, and looks back at the Warhol Factory and the dramatis personae of early modernism. But, in the context of a magazine that smells like a cosmetics counter, feels like a Christmas catalogue and looks like a runway show, art bottom-lined once again as a frou-frou for the trendy rich. In W's "Art Issue," which ran a month earlier, art fared no better.

Judging by the newspapers of many major American cities and some national magazines, the more straightforwardly journalistic popular press appears to be covering art with some thoroughness. Roberta Smith, Holland Cotter and Michael Kimmelman at the New York Times, Peter Schjeldahl at the New Yorker, Mark Stevens at New York magazine, Jerry Saltz at the Village Voice, Jed Perl at the New Republic, Arthur Danto at the Nation, Ken Johnson (now) at the Boston Globe, Edward Sozanski and Edith Newhall at the Philadelphia Inquirer, Christopher Knight and David Pagel at the Los Angeles Times, Kenneth Baker at the San Francisco Chronicle, Robert L. Pincus at the San Diego Union-Tribune and several others produce a veritable mountain of words about art every month. And most if not all of their publications also print additional art writing by freelancers and stringers.

Hot Chick

Yo last yesterday i saw this hot chicks website leena ferrari . A woman of a certain age might be called a girl to suggest that she looks younger than she is, or a group of women might speak of themselves as "us girls", though all are well over the age of maidenhood. Adult women will sometimes refer to themselves as "girls", as in "We're having a girls' night out" or "It's a girl thing". Its goal is to create a digital repository of all jurisdictional laws and related materials, including those of regional and major international organizations. While numerous national and regional legal databases that serve primarily local uses have been developed by other organizations, GLIN, on the other hand, is designed to enable international access and comparative legal research based on a common search method. Such a database has the potential of becoming a powerful research instrument and one that could influence legal systems worldwide.

GLIN was originally developed as a tool to support the research and reference needs of the United States Congress. However, it was decided that the database would be equally useful for legislators and legal researchers around the world and therefore was opened up for global membership. In 2001, the GLIN Foundation was established to support the needs and further the goals of the Network, whose data can now be accessed free of charge by anyone via the Internet. However, a GLIN member still has the option to allow access to other members only; but, in keeping with the principle that Governments should provide free and open access to their laws, full access to everyone is encouraged.

Clean Bean

Pure & Natural Ingredients
The CLEAN BEAN CANDLE COMPANY's Premium Soy Candles are made from premium grade soy oil and a triple load of body safe fragrance. Our soy candles burn 10-20% longer than paraffin candles. We use a metal free cotton wick rather than traditional candles which use a metal core and lead wicks. The Colts are my fav. team. I love everything about them. today is a pretty slow day. i havent eaten lunch yet and im not sure what i want. Today i need to start looking for a new appartment becasue my land lord is moveing to flordia. Baltimore apartments are really hard to find so i think im going to have to use a real estate agent. The appt. has to have sound proof walls beacuse i play guitar and some times like to play loud. I also want a nice community where my neibhors will be fun and want to hang out . I just did a google search and found these guys Baltimore Real Estate . they look like they have alot of good spaces. check them out for your selfs.

House real estate

For the last coupe of years i havent been to happy where i have been living. So i started looking all over the country for new places to live. One of my friends moved to Barrington last year and totaly loves it there. Im planing on setting up a trip to go vist him to see if I like the area. He told me that when he was looking for a place to live barrington real estate really helped him find the right place for him at a great price. There is a really low crime rate there and 34.8% of the people have bachelors degrees so i can find me a smart girl. I think they make your car look so much better. My old car was a bmw 325e and i bought this sick rack that totaly made the car. my friend had a crapy looking suv. One day he decided to get van racks on his suv OH MAN. it looked sweet. They make racks for every type of car and every year. They are great when you go on trips , just load all your stuff on the roof and your ready to go. I go camping alot so they are very helpfull. I also have a kayak and i just throw that up as well. I bet once you get racks on your car it will greatly impact how you use the car from then on.
